The organisers announce Boom Festival 2027 for 18–25 July 2027 at Boomland by the Idanha-a-Nova reservoir. It marks thirty years since the first Boom in 1997.

The numbers in the source column point to the evidence list at the foot of this page. Two years carry no edition: 2020, postponed twice, and 2024, when the organisation moved the festival to odd years. Rows without an edition number are marked as such.
Why it matters
Boom connects two scales of Portuguese history: a small early-1990s forest-party network and an international community spanning dozens of countries. It began at Herdade do Zambujal in Águas de Moura, Palmela, Setúbal district, held three editions there (1997, 1998, 2000), moved to Idanha-a-Nova in 2002, crossed to the present shore of the lake in 2010, and became the owner of Herdade da Granja — Boomland — which the organisation dates to September 2016 and peer-reviewed research to 2017.
What you hear
The Dance Temple holds the psychedelic-trance lineage while other areas move through psytechno, downtempo, organic music, talks, art and wellbeing. Describing today’s Boom as only a psytrance festival is no longer accurate.
