In the United States, psytrance grew as regional scenes connected by travel, mailing lists, promoters and outdoor gatherings.
The country’s scale prevented a single centre. Cities and regions built different relationships with rave, desert parties, Goa and festival culture.
That fragmentation is a reason to preserve local archives: without them, a national network looks smaller than it was.
This record is a doorway. The archive would rather declare a gap and invite contribution than fill space with generalisations.
